Those thievin’ pirates! Big story in the news right now is the piracy situation in Somalia. The latest score is a Saudi oil ship with $100,000 million of cude on board. The situation is escalating, with lawless Somalia, other East African countries and their evergrowing band of pirates taking over the seas off the East African and […]

Nathaniel Mayer was a giant of Detroit’s almost forgotten Soul history. He is best remembered for his scorching vocals on a hit he recorded for Fortune Records when he was just eighteen years-old, “Village of Love.” The record was licensed to United Artists for national distribution and sold well, which makes it one of the […]

This is an interesting 45 here. Just like any good Garage/Psych 45 it has a J.R.R. Tolkien reference with Anduril, which is the sword that was broken, which is very ironic considering the state of this 45. I am a closet Tolkien fan so this is always exciting for me. The credited songwriter on Anduril is […]

Wow is right. Keith Obermann has some balls. He’s probably strapped to a waterboard right now in the torture chamber that used to be Nixons bowling lane…

Isn’t it amazing how Clinton is criticized? Saying he created a wag the dog war as a diversion from the Lewinski scandal? Such hypocricy that it’s sickening. Fuckin’ politricks.
And watching the Monday night football game and the ressurection of the Superdome, you had to wonder if Katrina could have been avoided if Clinton was in office? They had George Bush Sr. flip the coin before the game - and his son was the person who could have acted sooner and helped fix this disaster. One thing I loved about Clinton was whenever there was a tragety or disaster or catostrophic event he was always there, reassuring the public, sincerely making an effort to make the situation better. Do you know that Laura Bush made the comment that New Orleans was better off now that Katrina happened because of the effort made to rebuild? Can you imagine saying this? Where’s the compassion? THAT is the difference between Clinton and Bush - compassion for the human spirit and the human condition.
While I’m ranting, why did U2 and Green Day play before the game? Here we are in New Orleans, one of the most historical and celebrated music capitols of the world, and they had an Irish band play?
One of the saddest things about Katrina and New Orleans is the loss of the culture there - the musicians that lost their homes and had to move away, the native New Orleans people that have lived there for years and years, the dialect, blues, jazz and zydeco music….The rebuilding of New Orleans should bring to light the preservation of that culture, the rebuilding of that culture, so here’s the chance to put that music and culture on center stage to show the world - and the execs at Monday night football put on U2 and Green Day. Nice move. And another thing - how many millions of dollars did it take to rebuild this stadium, yet they showed before the game all the neighborhoods that still were never repaired.
We really have two more years with the Bush administration?

It is amazing how easily history is changed. A majority of the people in this country believe that we found WMDs in Iraq. You have to hand it to the neo-cons though, they know how to win elections and inform the american people of thier platforms. The Dems wish they were as well organized. They can’t even convince people the Clinton years were good for this country

If Clinton were in office at the time of Katrina we wouldn’t have had the problem of lack of funding for diasater relief/aid because we wouldn’t be in fucking Iraq wasting billions of dollars and lives a day. Also, Dr. John and Fats Domino aren’t good for ratings. Fuck U2 and fuck Green Day. I’m glad I’m not a football fan and have to be subjected to that crap. It’s another example of how media and pop culture showcase the ugly side of America. Give ‘em what they want, boost ratings, ignore anything that might mean something. They’re all pigs.

They are clever. The people that voted for our current president are on the opposite sides of the spectrum: people sitting on piles of money that will not give a shit that they’re being lied to as long as their money is okay and people that actually believe what’s being told to them, people that live in parts of the country where, reletively speaking, electricity and indoor plumbing are new things. And the way that the electoral college works perfectly suits their strategy. Half the country, without major metropolitan areas to keep them blue, believe the lies and surely one or two states above the Mason-Dixon line are mixed enough to belive what they say and have enough greed-heads to have a chance at winning them. Thanks, Ohio. And here we are: in war, still being lied to. The ironic thing is that these people now are thinking for themselves, but it’s too late. If the Demorcats don’t pull it out next time, it’s time to go. They can have it.
