The people that voted for our current president are on the opposite sides of the spectrum: people sitting on piles of money that will not give a shit that they're being lied to as long as their money is okay and people that actually believe what's being told to them, people that live in parts of the country where, reletively speaking, electricity and indoor plumbing are new things. And the way that the electoral college works perfectly suits their strategy. Half the country, without major metropolitan areas to keep them blue, believe the lies and surely one or two states above the Mason-Dixon line are mixed enough to belive what they say and have enough greed-heads to have a chance at winning them. Thanks, Ohio. And here we are: in war, still being lied to. The ironic thing is that these people now are thinking for themselves, but it's too late. If the Demorcats don't pull it out next time, it's time to go. They can have it. They are clever. Also, Dr. John and Fats Domino aren't good for ratings. Fuck U2 and fuck Green Day. I'm glad I'm not a football fan and have to be subjected to that crap. It's another example of how media and pop culture showcase the ugly side of America. Give 'em what they want, boost ratings, ignore anything that might mean something. They're all pigs. And watching the Monday night football game and the ressurection of the Superdome, you had to wonder if Katrina could have been avoided if Clinton was in office? They had George Bush Sr. flip the coin before the game - and his son was the person who could have acted sooner and helped fix this disaster. One thing I loved about Clinton was whenever there was a tragety or disaster or catostrophic event he was always there, reassuring the public, sincerely making an effort to make the situation better. Do you know that Laura Bush made the comment that New Orleans was better off now that Katrina happened because of the effort made to rebuild? Can you imagine saying this? Where's the compassion? THAT is the difference between Clinton and Bush - compassion for the human spirit and the human condition. While I'm ranting, why did U2 and Green Day play before the game? Here we are in New Orleans, one of the most historical and celebrated music capitols of the world, and they had an Irish band play? Nice move. And another thing - how many millions of dollars did it take to rebuild this stadium, yet they showed before the game all the neighborhoods that still were never repaired.
