Yesterday was the first day of the Metro Times Blowout Festival. Justin said he was going to go, so maybe we’ll get a report. I may try to go this weekend sometime. Richard, any news for us?
As for the records, we have run into a streak of 45 collections the past few weeks that will continue to be posted on Monday. We’ll start with around 300 (all for sale) including the audio and information on five rare northern soul 45s by then, so stay tuned. I’m also going to do a post on the Pastels, a Battle Creek area psyche band from ‘66 on the Phallanx label. The 45 has a great side featuring a haunting organ hook that was typical of Michigan garage psyche at that time. Justin and I actually met the lead singer and guitarist before and bought some records off his huge collection. He gave us a couple copies of that song, and we were shocked when a recent collection turned up another one! That will one will also be auctioned off along with an orignal Bob Seger on Hideout.
Stay tuned and get ready for some rare 45s and more Michigan music history.
