[...] Let me mention this again, in case you missed it, and interesting exchange and occurance that happened here at Cousins Vinyl dot com. Max wrote about Thunderclap Newman last week, which made me interested in learning more about a 15 year old guitarist that recorded with them named Jimmy McCulloch who died at 26 of a heroin overdose. Max then looked into him more and wrote a follow-up post and mentioned this other guy who posted video footage of him on Youtube - I then commented and said it would be cool if this guy commented on our site and sure enough he did. Paul is his name, and although he’s only 20, he’s in the early stages of writing a biography about McCulloch’s life, which would be a fascinating contribution to music history. I believe he and Max exchanged emails, so look for more entries in the future about this subject. Really cool stuff!
Paul,

Thanks so much for contacting us and also for your archival efforts on YouTube. It\'s also great to hear that you\'re starting early. You\'re right about Jimmy McCulloch, he does seem like he was a cool guy and definately worth more recognition. I\'m just now getting acquainted with his work and it\'s fascinating. It\'s nice to see that there is a community out there keeping the flame going. Please keep us updated with the progress of your book and I\'ll be sure to post any leads, interesting info that I can find on Jimmy, but I\'m pretty sure that you\'re about ten steps ahead of me. The fellow that said that he used to drink with Speedy Keen\'s handle on YouTube is LeighWKJE. He might have overheard some useful or interesting stories about your subject. Please stay in touch. You can contact us here and my email is maxra001@yahoo.com.

Thanks again!

Hey guys this is WinoJunko76 from Youtube but my name's Paul. Imagine my surprise when I came across this website and there was a follow up on Jimmy and an even bigger surprise was that I was mentioned! That retrospective on Jimmy's career is a video that I had made over a year ago and had lost it and somebody else had kindly uploaded it to youtube after I had lost mine. So their upload of my video is what you see.

This might be a bit of a shocker but I'm actually only 20 years old. I first got into Jimmy around the time that the Wingspan documentary aired on ABC, which was around May 2001 and at the time being 13 years old, I had just started getting into The Beatles the previous winter, thanks to the "1" cd and Paul had become my favorite Beatle, mainly because of the fact that we both have the same name and are both left handed.

As I was watching Wingspan, I took notice when Paul introduced Jimmy.

"Then I'd seen a guitar player who was a very young guy who had been in a group called Thunderclap Newman, that Pete Townshend had had something to do with putting together, this was Jimmy McCulloch and he was kind of a young wiz kid. So he became our guitarist."

                                                             - Paul McCartney

From that point on I wanted to learn more about Jimmy because he just seemed like such a cool guy.

At the moment, I am actually in the process of researching information for a biography that I plan to write on Jimmy. The process is coming along slowly but I have been in contact with some great people.

Also, I am working on a video that showcases Jimmy's career starting with Thunderclap Newman and ending with The Dukes and I'm putting that up on youtube as well.

Keep in touch guys!

My mind is also on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, and the upcoming holiday. I will have a post prepared in honor of the day. I have many cool recordings of his speeches.

My mind is also on the auction ending Monday. Hats off to Justin - hustling like the champ he is. The best old school rap batch we've ever had.

Pistons, the Bulls got you tonight.

I'm sitting here thinking about music and went to the site and lo and behold there's another post up with links to JM who apparently is trying to hype himself through CV, which may be long overly due and deservingly so.

My wish is that the result of the cosmic connection, and huge effort by JM's spirit, the fan who hung out with him that Max described must somehow leave a comment here and tell us more.

In a way, I am too lazy (or selfish) to leave this fine local site to frequent corporate giant youtube. My local pub, or my own basement, is where I'll hang out tonight.

But tommorow I will go look at the videos.
