Just listed a batch of Gospel 45s including a handful of pretty rare ones from some small churches in Detroit. I recorded some of them; here they are:
Classify under spiritual funk, sort of like the James Tatum stuff but much more primitive. Pretty cool, can see why this was comped - would also make for some interesting samples. Love the drumming.

This is the kind of black gospel that I like - very uptempo and hand-clap inspiring. The Gospel Cavaliers also recorded on Savoy (I think).

Here’s another, from a Baptist revival church in Ecorse, Michigan by The Apostles of Music. Both sides are funky. Condition on this one is rough. Just pretend the backround noise is a hot cackling fire and you’ll want to wade in the water even more.
