Sounds like the Ann Arbor Rock and Roll Revival was totally awesome. I’m sad I missed it. Our bro Will was there, covering the event for AnnArbor.com; here’s his always well done review. While I’m at it, I might as well plug Will’s band, The Ypsitucky Colonels.

I’m looking into doing an internet radio show for A3Radio.com. I’m going to talk more about it with Jake, a Dollar Store digger and host of A3’s Notes From The MotherBoard, over a round of disc golf next week. Jake also has a music blog worth checking out. I’ll keep you posted.

Word is former Cousins contributer and music beat writer for Ann Arbor’s Current magazine Josh Steichmann might do a post for us sometime over the holidays. Josh is in L.A now, still writing, and occasionally updating his blog, No One Likes Everything. Josh is a fellow Ann Arbor Huron native, and one of my favorite writers.

Musician and historian Chris Peters has been corresponding with me about the Ann Arbor Sun Project, and has a few influential people lined up who are willing to talk to us a bit about events related to some of the articles. Chris and I are meeting soon to discuss ways of going forward.

Speaking of The Ann Arbor Sun Project, I’ll be posting more articles soon. Max and I have talked about collaborating on the John Lee Hooker interview and providing some background info, as John Lee had a lot of ties to Detroit. There’s a lot more I have planned - soon come!

The Dollar Store is in the process of some rearranging and improvements. I’ll post some pictures, but be sure to come by and check it out. The end result will feature a section with new arrivals, as well as more space, more records, and an easier and more enjoyable digging experience. I’ll be working on it these next few weeks if you want to stop by.

An extra-special thanks to Dollar Store regulars Fred and Rhonda for sending me their annual Christmas Mix CD, recorded all from vinyl. They even go the extra mile with cover art and liner notes. Very, very, cool! I’ll have to post the picture of it and give a review. I still need to get mine together. This is what I did last year.

Oh! Speaking of Christmas mixes, go right now to the Sub Sprawl site and download any of their Christmas songs for free. They collaborate every year and put out a sampler. We’re friends with some of the guys who run the label and play in various bands - great people, great label. Thanks again for my free 2008 copy at the Shadow Art Fair, I’ve been jamming it.

That’s all the table setting for now - happy holidays! As my friend Isaiah says: be good, and if you can’t be good, be careful :)
