A few people have asked about when the next free form DJ and crate digging event will be at the Corner Brewery. The next one we do will be sometime in November, and will be a little different. There will still be a special wheat beer brewed for the event, and about 1,000 or so top notch dollar records for sale, but Dannyboy and I have been talking about an idea to have storytelling along with 78s played out of my cabinet player. The 78s would range from old broken down blues to hoppin’ rhythm and blues and early rock and roll to various Americana stuff. Justin and I have been taking home almost all of the good 78s that have been coming in because they’re so difficult to ship, so we have quite the collection at this point. I also have several old songs abouts bums and hobos that I’d like to somehow incorporate. We’d maybe pair old songs with stories that people have to tell, or pre-record stories along with live stories. The fire place would be going, so it would be warm and cozy. We’ll see how the concept evolves, but get in touch with me or Dannyboy if you have any ideas or would like to tell a story.
I’m also trying to put together something else in addition to this one that’s more high energy and get a lineup going of various DJs, similar to last time. We’ve even talked about bringing it to Frog Island. I’ll keep you posted.
